The Fall Frolic Shop Hop is this week Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 11, 12 & 13! We do hope that you have it on your schedule. The other shops participating are Wimberley Stitch Studio, Scrappy Quilter (Schertz), One Quilt Place (Fredericksburg), and Sew It Fabulous (Boerne). Each shop will provide a free 12" block pattern that has either a fall or winter theme, a free FQ, and the chance to win prizes. The Grand Prize this year will be five $50 gift certificates, one from each of the participating Shops! That means $250 of fabric, tools or notions- WOW!! To be eligible to win the Grand Prize you must visit all five shops during the Shop Hop and get your Passport stamped. A Passport can be picked up at your first Shop stop (and the Passports are free). The Textile Studio's free block pattern features the one-seam flying geese technique. We have the kits ready and each kit will have sufficient fabric to make four blocks. A new quilt shop- the Cactus Queen Quilt Shop in McQueeney- has just been added to the Fall Frolic Shop Hop. Since they just opened their doors, you do not have to get your Passport stamped at the Cactus Queen to be eligible for the Grand Prize.
The Ugly Fabric Quilt Contest quilts have been turned in and it is amazing what creative people can do with "ugly fabric"! During the Fall Frolic Shop Hop visitors will be asked to vote for their favorite quilt. So, even if you don't plan on doing the Hop, we do hope that you will stop in and vote for your favorite.
"Memphis Blues" Block of the Month quilt- If you're looking for a BOM for 2019 we will be starting a monthly program in January. The quilt is made up of batik fabric in gorgeous blue and purple hues and will complete at 73" x 83". We are fortunate to have a completed Memphis Blues quilt (on loan from Island Batik) on exhibit in the Textile Studio for the month of October. More information and registration for the BOM will be available soon!
Sit and Sew Opportunities
-Stitchin' Sisters is a new group beginning this month for those that want to learn or improve hand embroidery and hand applique skills, or just to sit and sew with others. Led by Judy Pullen the group will meet on the third Saturday of the month from 1 pm - 3: 30 pm. Based on requests from those attending, Judy can plan specific techniques and projects for upcoming sessions. Pre-registration is required. More information can be found on the website.
-Judy Niemeyer Sit and Sew led by Jan Mathews is scheduled for Friday, December 7th. This sit and sew is open to anyone who has started a Judy Niemeyer pattern and needs help, or anyone who has a Judy Niemeyer kit and needs help getting started. Time to Celebrate!
So what could we be celebrating?? Well, five years ago Uptown Blanco Textile Studio opened it's doors! Our 5th Anniversary Celebration is being planned for November 30th and December 1st. Make sure to read the November newsletter for all the details.

- October 23: Texas Star Workshop - a favorite workshop using 2.5" strips to make a large Texas Star block
- November 6: Large Dresden Plate Quilt- make a large dresden plate suitable for a table topper, tree skirt of baby playmat
- November 12: November Mug Rug- make an acorn shaped mug rug
- November 9, 16, 30 and December 7: Intro to Quilting- For the beginner quilter this series provides instruction on basic quilting techniques with the end result being a small quilt
- November 13: Quilt as You Go Bargello Table Runner
- November 17: Stitchin' Sisters Sit and Sew
- November 22: Closed for Thanksgiving Day
- November 30: Fat Quarter Friday
